Re: Thorpe Bay Winter TT - Saturday 2nd February

Paul, this is my opinion and Jenny/Chris who both sail at Thorpe Bay will also hopefully comment. The forecast at the moment would not stop Sprints going out at Thorpe Bay. The Met Office is 17mph gusting 28mph and Windguru 23mph gusting 29mph. There is only the Sprint 15 Open on Saturday, no club r...

Re: Thorpe Bay Winter TT - Saturday 2nd February

I know people will be arriving early and hungry. Our Chef will be in and serving hot breakfast food from 8 am as registration starts. So don't forget get plenty of protein before hitting the water. When racing finishes he will be serving his lunch menu, if you have to rush off then I am sure he will...

Re: Next up - Thorpe Bay Winter TT - Saturday 3rd February

We are happy for anybody to leave their boats overnight on the green field area to the east of our Dinghy Park. To get to this you will need to enter via the Dinghy Park Entrance. If you are staying within the Southend area, then we welcome you to the club on Friday. The club is open all day and Fri...

Re: Next up - Thorpe Bay Winter TT - Saturday 3rd February

Liam, very well planned. Yes that is not a problem. Enter through the Dingy Park gate and turn immediately right. The boats are safest along the fence of the grass field you will enter. I will be down in the morning to open the gate but if it isn't open you can pop up the office/bar and they will gi...

Re: Thorpe Bay Nationals 22nd-24th July

Don't miss out on the opportunity to sail the Sprint Nationals (could be 60+ boats) on the sunny Southend Estuary. Meet many like minded sailors. If you haven't already registered that is no excuse you can just turn up and pay your entry. No where to stay then I can confirm there is still hotel room...

Re: Nationals Arrival and pre weekend sailing

Hi Dave, as previously discussed we are happy for you to bring your boat in earlier. Today is better than Monday as you previously mentioned as we are fully open. If you come up to the bar when you arrive I will be there until 15:30 and can brief you where to put it. Follow the route instructions th...

Re: Three weeks until Early Bird Nationals Entries close!

Steve, I am sure Jenny will get everybody sorted out if there has been problems. It's good to see we are embracing technology with online entries. I thought however I would say that unfortunately none of the Entry information is being processed by TBYC it is all going direct via the Association as w...

Re: Thorpe Bay Nationals 22nd-24th July

As with all events we have free camping on the green in front of the club, please let us know if that is your plan (Tent of Camper van). Otherwise there is a load of affordable hotels many on the seafront, for the full list look at the Event details which says more about the club and accommodation. ...

Thorpe Bay Nationals 22nd-24th July

As everybody should be putting their entries in very soon so as not to miss out on the excellent discount, only a couple of days left, I thought I would just take the opportunity to remind people of what they will be getting: o Excellent sailing on the North Shore of the Thames Estuary. o Results on...

Re: Entries for the 2017 Sprint 15 Nationals are now open!

Dave, sorry for the slow reply, just starting to get in full swing for the Nationals. Jenny is correct the area that we use for caravans is classed as a Southend Council Car Park and a Bye Law says that normally there should be no camping. We get special permission for the weekend Friday until Monda...

Breakfast being served from 09:00.

Chef asked if you can preorder lunch choices before going out sailing. Hope that isn't a problem. More menus available at Registration if you miss this.

Re: Next up - Thorpe Bay TT - Sunday 12th February

Steve I can hear you Bacon sizzling already........ The forecast looks really good now, famous last words ;-) A few showers early but clearing for racing which will have a 15mph easterly (source metoffice). I understand you are bringing Steves repaired rudder back, he said can you give it to me as h...

Re: Next up - Thorpe Bay TT - Sunday 12th February

That won't be a problem. And yes all the Rugby Games will be shown in the Bar which will be open to 23:00. The club has recently increased the security and so there is digital locks on the doors, however if you go to the back of the club there is a lift and staircase to the main bar without a restri...

Re: Next up - Thorpe Bay TT - Sunday 12th February

We are looking forward to seeing everybody in Thorpe Bay this Sunday. If you are traveling Saturday there is no problem storing your boat in the grassed area next to the Dinghy Park, through the day the gate (which is accessed from the Seafront) will be left open but for the safety of your boats it ...

Re: Newsprint is Dead!!!, long live e-Newsprint???

Liam, I never got a chance to reply, might have been busy reading back issues. I joined in 2008 but it was good to read the articles again (although I have got the print versions somewhere) and those that came before me. So big thanks for making them available. If there are any prospective members I...
