Re: Sad News

Many thanks to Bob, Brian, Gordon and Paul for your kind responses.

Alan's funeral will be at 2.30 pm at Worthing Crematorium on Thurdsay 19th January.

I am hoping to write (with Alan's familiy's permission) an obituary to go in the Summer Dart 15 magazine.

Cheers Keith

Sad News

I heard yesterday, that Alan Welman, a long time Dart 15 sailor had passed away on Christmas Eve. Alan was one of the founding members of The Open Dinghy Club back in 1975. He initially sailed a self built marine ply Cat, then graduated to a 15 sometime in the 1980's. He was instrumental in getting ...

Re: Damage to tiller arms at rudders end.

Hi Kev, this appears to be a fairly common problem on older boats. I would certainly try to re rivit with an Aulminium patch. If this doesnt work , get back to me as I still have a variety of Rudder spares.

Re: Wetsuit boots

Hi, I bought a pair from Rooster Sailing at the Dinghy Show. They were "All purpose Boots " and have got a decent ribbed sole ( You need a really good grip going up and down the wooden ramp at Bognor). It looks like the prod code no is 132555 So far Ive been really pleased with them. Cheer...

Bognor Sailing Club doubles the number of 15's

Hi folks, yes its an impressive claim, but BRSC now has two Sprint 15's in the boat park. Not sure we can call ourselves a fleet yet, but we are working at it.

Cheers Keith

Latest Magazine

The latest magazine dropped through our letterbox yesterday morning. What another cracking issue that Yvonne has put together. It is a superb advert for our Class.

Rudders For Sale

Hi folks,As there is a complete 15 for sale for £700 on our website , I've just asked Liam to reduce the price of the pair of rudders I have for sale down to £400. I will be at the Dinghy Show all of Sunday and will have the rudders in my car if anyone wants to look at them. If there's no interest t...

Rudder blade repairs

Its damp , wet and windy here in Chichester, but my thoughts are already turning towards the new season. I have some rudder blade repair work to start, but need some expert advice from you guys. I am not an engineer, so there may be a proper reason, but why does the blade have both the plastic appro...

Re: Looking for secondhand 15's

Hi folks, does anyone know any background to the boat on e bay from Halifax area?. It's numbered 1875 on the sail, but the hulls are without any lettering or stripes, so may be older. The photos are pretty ropey, and it's a long way to go from Chichester to find out it's a dodgey boat. Any info much...

Looking for secondhand 15's

Hi all, I've been working away at some of the D18 sailors at Bognor SC, none of whom have regular crews, saying that they really need to get a 15. To my surprise I think I am making progress! and have somewhat foolishly said that I can conjure up some good boats (from somewhere) So the purpose of th...

Re: Sailing at Windsport - Week of 19th-23rd July

Hi folks. I can confirm that FREDDIE will be joining you all. I've just booked my camping slot thru Windsport's new Coastland portal Barbara has decided that the lure of her tomato crop and garden is stronger than spending 6 nights camping with me , so I'll be on my own. Really looking forward to ge...

Hi Bob, thanks for your posting. I agree that the Italians had a far better set up. Lets hope that the INEOS piggy bank is willing to support another attempt in X years time. Showing my ignorance who is the guy who fronts up the Mozzy sails videos? . He certainly seems to know his stuff. Cheers Keith

Re: Beach Winch

Hi Mike. We bought a new electric winch at the Open Dinghy Club about 6 years ago. It replaced an ancient winch which had been there for 45 years. Sadly within a year or so ODC then lost its site lease and most of our "stuff" was given away to local clubs. The winch was given away, to , I ...

Re: Sprint News

Our post to Chichester is a bit slow, (so that's my excuse for being late with this posting). Once again Yvonne has produced a superb Class magazine. Its such a great advert for our class. I particularly liked the Windsport Regatta article. Sadly we couldn't make it down there last year, but we stil...
