Re: Rig tension

Wobbly. Everyone seems to have a different setting, some very loose, some less loose. I have mine so it allows mast rotation relatively easily to 90 degrees. Any tighter and you'll loose rotation, any looser and I'm not to keen on it. Someone will probably explain benefits of a tight and loose rig. ...

Re: Carsington tt event

Yeah, I think it would have been better to sail unarig this weekend due to wind strength and courses set. I just couldn't be bothered to take my trapeze wires etc off. Going up wind there wasn't consistently enough wind to get out on the wire, as I had to keep hopping in and out. Downwind as Robert ...

Re: Pwllheli National's

I've found Windguru to be fairly accurate, usually a few knots higher than BBC predicts. Either way, looks like there's going to be enough wind.

Re: Carsington TT Sat 5 February

It was Simon, he was filming too. Hopefully he got one of my capsize. I think I spent most of my time with both rudders out the water. With regards to gybing, the worst bit is the bear away from a beam reach, once you've got onto a broad reach, its easy from there. So wait till a gust just finishes,...

Re: DX 15 at Stewartby

** I’m probably a fundamental flaw in my logic, so sorry if it doesn’t make any sense or is contradictory** My opinion is that the DX sail will attract new people into the class and take some people that normally sail unarig/sport mode into buying the new sails. I think not allowing the DX into the ...

I've heard about this photo, (having not seen it as it's at home) and it sounds not too far removed from Ray's normal going-out clothes

In advance, sorry if some of this is a bit basic, but as I'm writing something, might as well say as much as I can. And it might not all be correct, just what I understand to be correct. The jib helps push the bows around once head to wind, by backing and pushing the bows out of the no go zone, and ...

I keep mast rake the same, less change = less hassle. Just carry enough speed before the tack, so you get round. Like riding a bike over a small hill, you must be going fast enough at the bottom to be able to coast over it. Windier weather, the hill gets a bit bigger and more speed is required to ge...

I can't make it as I managed to break 4 rivets off my tramp track at the Carsington TT, so I'm in the process of reattaching it. Noticed this whilst doing some "routine" (or not) maintenance and noticed the track wasn't quite attached as it's supposed to be. Will be fine to sail at Carsing...

I'm sure I recognise it from somewhere, did it go to the nationals? unless there is a similar boat kicking about.
