In praise of Windsport
Old bloke, Dart Sprint, Gurnard, Sport Nationals in ten days. Small holes in tramp. Duct tape for club race. Then, knee through tramp. Local assessment, replace!!! Seven days to go, call Windsport. Immediate (one call) response with informed, concise options. Unfortunately missed last collection ‘til Monday. No Probs, Plenty of time. Probably 48hrs. Fit thurs/fri and enter and sail Fri. pm. Order confirmed Mon am, all packed and despatched within hours. Fantastic service! Disappointment when no delivery by Fri. am. Call Windsport. Again, immediate positive response and promise to investigate but too late now for first two races. Item located in Portsmouth! Carriers inefficiency.Within a couple of hours the defaulting carrier, under pressure from Windsport, was on the phone apologising and offering an evening cross Solent delivery. Quite exceptional!! Meantime Windsport had packed a second complete delivery and were offering to drive it, that evening, from Cornwall to Lymington just to satisfy an old bloke’s desire to participate. What fantastic and personal service. Common sense prevailed and weekends were not spoiled but old bloke really appreciated the efforts of all concerned. It probably saved him from floating, inverted, on west going tide to Yarmouth and allowed a comfortable binocular view of the best racing in Gurnard Bay this year. Well done to all who organised and participated in a very successful Sprint Nationals. BUT especially well done to Windsport who, although no fault of their own, made exceptional efforts to satisfy a Dart Sprint customer. The Dart customers are indeed so lucky to have Windsport in control of their spares. Always concise, helpful, knowledgeable and responsive. Use them and appreciate them, Dart sailors!!!
