I read on the chat forum that Bob was ill but nothing since. Does anyone have an update?
Although I only met Bob once at Grafham (when he persuaded me to buy a Sprint 15 over an ISO that I had gone to look at) I feel as though I know him well from his contributions to the forum and I miss him!!
The commmittee certainly miss him, Ray and myself can't seem to do the work that he did on his own. He has been in hospital for the last seven weeks, but should be out very soon and then we will see him back on the chat page. He hopes to be sailing again in the new year and sooner in organizing the sailing for us all, but in the mean time you will have to do with Ray and myself.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the kind words. I have recently returned home after 7 weeks in hospital where I had a non-malignant growth (cavernoma) removed from the brain stem. Recovery from such an event is very slow and time will tell the extent to which I will recover. I'm currently very weak so I have been keeping out of the day to day stuff. It is unlikely that I will be able to sail in 2007 but I hope to get back into sailing my Sprint 15 next year.
Regards
Bob
I am really pleased that you've got well enough to leave hospital, can email, and are looking forward to sailing again - even though you say it looks a long time hence. I guess all the regulars on the Travellers circuit really miss you - from all the organistion you used to do (and we took for granted) and your providing a target man to try to catch on the water. We all have good reason to thank you for all your past work which has done so much for the Class, building its popularity and standing - so we hope you get back sailing sooner than you imply.
I haven't been able to sail since mid-April and I still don't know when I'll be able to sail again. It's totally Maddening!!!!! But I hope I'll be back sailing later this year - though the Standard Nationals is beginning to look "too soon", and I may be leaving an opportunity for someone to "pinch" the Sport Traveller Trophy from me......
