Hi Dean,
We are currently rotating the venues for the teach-ins each year to share it around. We were at Seasalter in 2006, Thorpe Bay in 2007 and we expect the Southern Teach-in in 2008 to be at Stewartby. The likely date is 26/27 April but we are just waiting for it to be confirmed.
Sorry- but at least we have an Open Meeting at Seasalter on 17/18 May.
We like to encourage our growing clubs with a visitation as well as encourage new venues.
Regards
Bob

PS The Northern Teach in is likely to be at Filey and once again I'm waiting for final confirmation of the date - expected to be 10/11 May

Thanks Bob.
With hopefully 5 Sprint 15s racing at Sheppey next year...I have a dilemma...either convince the other 4 that it is a brilliant weekend and well worth going (which it is)...or don't tell them and gain the advantage in the racing next year!

Of course you will be taking them to Stewartby - how are we going to have a local interclub meet unless!!

Maybe we can organise weekly events around the cable laying barges in the Swale for 2010 as well.

Round the Barge Race

As they might knacker our Round the Island Race, we'll could have a Round The Barge Race instead.

1st one back with a bit of their cable wins!

Swale Estuary - cable works

Post by Steve Willis »

Cedric.

No panics

We are referring to offshore :D cable laying from Seasalter to the London Array windfarm that will be located north of Margate (about 350 turbines when complete). They will be connected to a new substation about a mile from our club.

There will be a number of cables laid by barge probably in 2010,2011 and 2012 and we are in discussion with the developers with regard to making sure that clubs and sailors are not affected - especially for the keelboats that use the main channel and the open events run by a number of clubs - notably Seasalter SC, IOSSC and Whitstable YC.

Joan and I and Matt Stickels from Canterbury City Council met with their representatives at SSC last week to set up a liaison with them on behalf of all the clubs.

Have a look at www.londonarray.com and select the 'planning' or 'downloads' options on the left to see what the preliminary proposals are.

I am co-ordinating information from them for clubs in the area.

best wishes of the season. :D
