Brian recently recommended Aralditing the outer bushes to the rudder & Steve said the same in his mastfoot article.
Both gents are obviously very knowldgable & it might stick them well but my question is can you get either to budge when you want them to?

To be honest I have avoided araldite for years preferring more flexible glues (Evostik and Timebond) for most things. Mainly because I found Araldite too brittle for many jobs using non porous surfaces, especially metals that may be subjected to shock.
In the case of the mast wear plate i chose it for exactly that reason - if I ever need to remove the plate again a few sharp taps with a hammer/chisel should break it free and I would hope to be able to scrape the residual off.
You could try Evostik instead for the plate but in this case I decided the 'bulk' of Araldite would allow the glue to fill the periphery around the plate to keep it central - and that is exactly how the new mast foot castings come from Brian.
With regard to the rudder outer bush I cannot comment - I will leave Brian to answer that one.
However I have just changed all the bushes on our club boat, 857, rudders (after much careful sawing and tapping to get the totally seized bolts and old bushes out. For older the boats the inner bush is encased in plastic and the hole in the outer is too big to take the new inner bushes so I had to change both (inner and outer). I chose not to glue the new outer bushes in place as they were a reasonably firm fit.
Brian did make a very good suggestion with regard to these older ones.
They do not have shouldered washers and the holes in the A frame are only drilled to take the bolt not the washer shoulder. Brian suggests that if the hole in the A frame is still round (not worn) then it is a good time to ream the hole out to take the new shouldered washers - as it is much easier to get a round and central hole than later when the original is no longer round.
Hi, my thoughts
I am not sure it matters what fixing glue you use on the outer rudder sleeve as longf as it holds it in place and does not allow the blade to slide from side to side on the bush. If the the old outer sleeve has damaged the glass around the hole and the fit is sloppy, I think you may need something like araldit to pack it out.
