Hi Gordon, whats the time of the first race start and is it back to back so we can be away by four the same as last two events?

The actual start time hasn't yet been firmly fixed, but I would expect it to be 11-00 am. Having said that, I always ask the Race officer not to start proceedings until we're all assembled at the start area, even if that means a small delay.

As always, it will be 2 races back to back.

You will definitely be away by 4pm (unless you spend too long gossiping!).

In reply to Ray's request for extra chocolates....I would gladly chip in with an extra box of chocolates if we get 20 boats, that's a good number to aim for.

Just a reminder that the next Winter traveller event will be at Queen Mary SC next Saturday 14th February

As before, we'll be sailing the 2 races back to back, with the start of the first race at 11-00am. We should be off the water by appx 1-30pm, to give plenty of time for an early trip home.

The Wind Guru forecast is looking pretty terrible at 1-3knots for this Saturday.

I have never been to Queen Mary Reservoir, I know it is a little elevated, do the websites normally under estimate?

I agree, even if you misread the wind speed in knots for beaufort it's still light. I might be withdrawing my place in the Carsington/Draycote competition.

I'm all pack on the trailer ready to come, but the wind forecast is looking desperate! It's going to be a tough call in the morning - gentle floating in little wind or mother-in-laws birthday lunch.......

Can't pretend, it's not a pretty grim weather forecast.
The club is at a slightly elevated altitude, but it's not in the jetstream.
So I'm fairly confident it won't be very windy.

But we're all in the same boat, literally, so no one has an advantage

I've had a few calls from people, including Stuart Snell and Ray Gall for the Carsington's and they're all still coming.

I hope people will still decide that it's worth coming.

Just to let everyone know,

We had no choice but to abandon the QM event today due to complete lack of wind.

Thanks to all those who made the journey and were still prepared to sail if there'd been any chance. But unfortunately it wasn't to be.

Shame about the No Wind situation at QMSC. Let's hope we get some for the Grafham Icicle event which is the last event in the Winter Series and scheduled for Sunday 22 March. We hope to see you there.
