Hi Andrew,
I've sent you a personal message in answer to your query and as a reply to the one you sent me. Just type your message and hit the return key.
When you are on facebook you can see if any of your 'friends' are online at the same time - click on bottom rh corner - and start a conversation if you wish. See you on facebook shortly? I am finding it quite addictive and better than the telly! Cheers!

PS Looks like I've been made an Admiral on it - after just one day!!!
It took years to achieve that status on this web site.
This is what Sam, my non sailing son, has to say on the subject:
"Dad
Thats hilarious! All you old buggers grappling with technology!
Tell yer buddies to live a little... embrace some change

p.s. there probably is no benefit.... as far as i can see its a black hole for time, but fun"
Over the years, the name "Carter" has filled me with awe. There's Dick Carter, the yacht designer, Bob Carter, George Carter and even Cranfield and Carter the venerable sailmakers of Burnham. And of course, the sailmaker from "Frigging in the Rigging"!
The sailmaker's name was Carter.
He was a jolly farter.
When the wind wouldn't blow
And the ship wouldn't go,
They called on Carter to start her!

A Ha, Ben! You now see how parents will be snooping to see who your friends are! I bet many parents (apart from fuddy-duddy sprinters) will have heard of Facebook. We're in the vanguard!

I use the Sprint forum much more than Facebook. Facebook is really restricted to "friends".
We have a TBYC Facebook page that was started by one of our cadets. It doesn't seem to get much use, either.
Facebook seems to be more popular with the young, who could have 50 or more friends. For adults, it is a bit of a flop, except for elderly teenagers like Robert England...

Andrew, I reckon that you have made Robert's week with this comment.
He can only be a teenager once every 10 years if you read the digits in reverse order.
Cheers
Bob
How old do you think Bob is? I reckon he's 64 this year. Here is how I worked it out...........
His famous Sprint was "The Dogs B**ll**ks". But importantly, his sail number was 1945. Taking these numbers, if you add the first two digits to the second two digits, viz 19+45, you get 64, which he will be, sometime this year!
