Stewartby Winter TT - Saturday 6th November

Post by KarlPountney »

Hello all. It's that time of year again. The first of the Winter TT Series events kicks off as usual at Stewartby.

The format is as before. Two races, first race at 11am. Briefing at 10.30 on the clubhouse patio. Open to all formats. RYA PY number will be used.

The club will be open from 08.30 so plenty of time to set up (put your boat together!), chow-down on bacon butties and sup a few mugs of tea.

The entry fee is a per previous years £15 and everyone goes away with a crate of beer. A bacon butty and a cup of tea is included as well.

You have a choice of lunches (which isn't included in the entry fee), but a typical hot meal, drink and pud comes in at £5.

Last year's event was a huge success especially given the growing numbers of home boats taking part. We've a few more this year and as usual we'll have our very own 'stig' out in the club boat.

So we'll look forward to seeing you a month from today.

If you have any questions please contact myself, Mark Norman or Jon Finch (class captain) and you can do this simply by emailing sprint15@swsc.org.uk.

Is that the black Stig or the white Stig. Has he come-out yet? 8)

Count me in
Camaraderie, beer and an opportunity to sail DX, what else do you need :?:

I hear on the jungle drums, that after their summer sabbatical (licking their wounds after last winter sound thrashing in the "Inter Club Challenge") that the boys from Draycote might be back on tour

By my maths the score is one each.........any truth in the above rumour :?:

Get your boats packed, see you all at Stewartby.

Not sure they're going to be up to it this year, it's getting towards the hard middle years of life for some of them...

Hi Ray, looks like Draycote have given up on the Inter Club Challenge as they still don't know the rules.

I can't make it as I managed to break 4 rivets off my tramp track at the Carsington TT, so I'm in the process of reattaching it. Noticed this whilst doing some "routine" (or not) maintenance and noticed the track wasn't quite attached as it's supposed to be. Will be fine to sail at Carsington next month tho.

Erling, I feel that I must raise a serious concern re the lack of banter supplied by Team Draycote alias the James Gang :(

The lack of communication is causing Team Carsington to lose its finely honed edge which we have been building all year and as a consequence are slipping in to a deep depression........ At our whispering sessions we have even prepared our secret fruit formula in readiness for the sub artic January conditions!

If it helps this Winter I will request from my team to go easy on Team Draycote at Stewartby, give the James Gang a bit of a start, sort of encouragement after their self imposed lay off

Do you think you could intervene and personally write to the boys and inform them that they are spoiling our annual sport and is in direct contravention of our human rights

Team Draycote

Couldn't agree more as our leader Derek is shamelessly nursing a bad back and threatening not to attend.
Needless to say though that the main members of Team Draycote i.e. Myself, Ed and Phil will be attending and are keen to do battle once again for yet another glorious victory over Team Carsington.
Pete.

Hi Karl
Have you "fingered" someone to do the race report? It is much better to get someone in the frame and get their agreement before the racing starts. That way they keep a watch out for items of interest to report.
Cheers
Bob
PS In the interests of neutrality it should be someone from the home club so that neither Carsington nor Draycote should get the opportunity for biased reporting. That will come in December & January!

Looking forward to tomorrow. If anyone coming is handy with a screwdriver, I'm having trouble with a tail light on my lighting board and may have to do some twiddling before the return journey home. I have some spare bits and pieces to play with but gave up in the dark and the rain a short while ago. It's curious because there is power available until I insert the bulb - then nothing :( . I've tried new bulbs. It can't be the earth because the stop light (same bulb) and the flasher both work. Any suggestions welcome.

Time's a bit tight tomorrow too as I have to get back for a firework/bonfire display! :?
