"Scores on the doors!"

Post by KarlPountney »

Hello,

I've just submitted the PY return for Stewartby today and thought I would share some of the numbers we got out for the Sprint 15.

Do bear in mind that the races we've submitted date cover a period from June 2012 - December 15th 2013.

Sprint 15 Una Rig
  • Raced in 193 of 210 races at the club.
  • Made 297 appearances which counted towards our PY calculation.
  • Sailed of a handicap of 918 during the period
  • Was calculated to have a handicap at Stewartby of 978 with a confidence value of 0.5
Sprint 15 Sport mode was sailed by a single competitor who had a calculated PY of 957.

It's worth remembering that the calculated values are relative to the other classes sailed at the club which typically include Lasers, Solos, Phantoms, Streakers, Albacores and Larks.

Anyway enjoy!

Regards

Hi Karl,

Just in time,eh?

I reckon you have got some good racers in the other classes to get a 978 recommendation.

The Grafham data gives a recommendation of 911 with a confidence of 0.7 but I know that Grafham have a strong Sprint 15 fleet so this is to be expected.

By the way, I helped Swanage do their return this year because of the problem we had with the Sport mode handicap. The data for their return (which I did for the last 3 years races ) gave a Sport mode handicap of 881 with a 0.2 confidence so hopefully the handicap should moderate next year. Hardly any one sails unarig there but there are quite a few Dart 18s and they get a suggested handicap of 797 with a confidence of .7 which compares to the RYA value of 805

Cheers

Happy with 797 for a Dart 18, or even 805. They have a more cushy time on SCHRS. What do they use at Carnac (this might affect whether people want to sail Una or Sport)?
