Hi Liam,
Technical content ahead for the non techies!
That happens a lot so I ended up unchecking the box in the admin for that sub comp for most of the last nationals, as the results at the event against the site were completely different. The website uses the formula that Bob and I agreed to use to work out the Pro-Am but this can be viewed as unfair.
The rules that the website and hence database are using are:
1) They have sailed both the first two races. (i.e they are present at the event and sailing it avoids matching a pro with someone who has entered but isn't there
, but is unfair on the people who retired them. The old sprint 15 scoring didn't allow for differentiation between the two groups of people )
2) The pro and ams are then matched by taking the person in first and matching them with the last place given rule 1 and so on. If there is an odd one out in the middle then that's life and they aren't in the pro-am comp
.
Nick and Erling worked out the pro-am differently so you'll need to re-visit with Erling and thrash out a new formula. I suspect if you have people who retired either of the first two races then they should be included, this is easier to detect now the events are using RYA scoring rather than the old Sprint 15 Scoring method. This is easy to do by modifying the SQL query that selects people for Rule 1 above.
