Bent Mast

Post by Derek James »

Is it possible to remove a slight bend from a single piece mast ? We have a club boat at Draycote with a very gentle bend in the mast . We have tried resting it between two benches and jumping on it but to no effect . Any tips on mast straightening would be appreciated 👍

I’ve not tried it myself but Joe from Joyrider TV YouTube channel has a video about the topic:

The channel is a gem, by the way.

I hope it helps

Probably all you can realistically do Derek is put it between 2 points as the vid' shows and over bend it so it then returns to staight(ish).

Unless it's got a crack in the hound fitting weld which I've seen before. George Carter used to put so much downhaul on he broke them there!

Thanks for suggestions .....the video is great and makes it look so easy ......I suspect Dart masts are a bit stiffer but will give it a go . Cheers Javier and Mark
