North Devon Yachting and Cycling

Post by Charles »

Are the usual suspects taking 2 wheels as well as 2 hulls?

The tides don't seem to be lending themselves to an afternoon of beer and bikes, but you never know!

Fat lads are struggling against the little 'uns!

Great to see youth appreciating skill and not just 3 sail speed

Hi Charles,
So you have 1942 now. Nice to see Chris Black's old boat back in use.
I have had many a tight race against that over the years. :-)

Hi Bob, I do indeed. I bought her from John Finch at Stewartby last year. She seems to be going OK, though for various reasons (mostly off the water) this weekend was my worst ever nationals results  The curious thing is that I remember watching Chris tack and thinking it all looked very smooth, I must be channelling a bit of that as my tacks in her seem to be generally smoother. She has a name now too, Ingrid, as my mother was born in 1942 so it seemed appropriate to name the boat after my mother. My mother named the boat last week!

Well done to everyone this weekend, sailors and volunteers.

But it looks like you missed most of the races. Was it too windy? You used to be a tough nut in windy conditions....

Well done to Hector for a comprehensive victory in the Sport Nationals, closely followed by Jason. A very well deserved champion.

Thank you to NDYC for looking after us.

Bob, I couldn't get Saturday off work (the best wind) and as well as a dreadful hangover had a 6 hr drive back on Monday with work on Tuesday, so all went a bit sideways!

Drinking is like any other sport Charles that you need to train & practice at!

Other than that you need to retire - as do I!

See you on the water soon.

Haha, very true Mark.

I'm trying to get the Saturday off for the GWSC event, but suspect I won't make it down, in which case probably see you in 2025!
