Any suggestions on fixing the transom leak around the rudder gudgeon that seems to be endemic to Darts? I've fiberglassed/gelcoated twice, but still can't stop it.

Cheers,

Leaky pintels [Bob]

Bob replied:

In the past I have found clear silicone sealant does the trick. The pintel fittings have to be tight on the hull so that they do not move about. It is best to take them off the boat (getting to the nuts can be tricky - you need a spanner that fits and to dig a way the fibre glass inside abit if it is over the nuts. Clean up and make good the fibre glass, apply the silicone sealant, and then refit the pintels so that they are really tight and do not move.
