I don't mind entering in advance for the Nationals, but to have to do it for Grafham in a joke. I did not enter last year and won't be this. good luck to everyone hope you have a good sail. I.m off to Datchet this weekend for the D18 Inlands no pre-entry

Hi Steve,
Yes, I know it is a pain and I would prefer it if we could manage entries on the day, but (as I have posted on several websites) it is a complex event to run and we cannot do it properly if we just have a short time to enter the sailors on the data base. Part of this is the complexity that arises a) when sailors enter the wrong info on their entry forms (sailors often can't remember their own sail number) and b) when we have several boats sailing with the same sail number it can easily screw up the results. This is really a function of having many different classes taking part at the same event. Last year we had seven sail numbers duplicated or triplicated. The pre-entry meant that we could identify these before the Saturday and issue extra stick on sail letters for those with duplicated sail numbers on the same course. That in turn meant that the lap recorders wrote down correct info and the results were not peppered with errors caused by confusion of boats. So we have concluded that the pain is worth the gain.

PS Next year you will have no choice as the Dart 18 Inlands are at Grafham - so you could book a holiday for October

Kyle will be attending, but sadly not in his Sprint. I've been promoting the Grafham TT, stressing the pre-entry. There's no club racing at TB on weekend of 16/17 Oct, but Gerald Sv has arranged a cruise in The Solent.

Unfortunately, Daren Fitchew is unable to attend. I'm just recovering fitness after a month off. Perhaps Howard and Martyn will go.

I have fond memories of Grafham. It was the first event I attended. I also liked the evening meal at The Lion in Buckden. It meant I simply went upstairs to bed. And how I suffered the next day. One year, my hangover was so bad, I stayed at The Lion an extra night and left on monday morning. Gordon Goldstone and I got the wine order muddled up and we had twice as much.

I'm all paid so I'll see you there. Arriving Friday evening to set up.

Nice one. I have spent many Saturday evenings drinking wine with Gordon and the guys. It is always a good measure of how good the evening was by seeing how well (delicate??) Gordon looks on a Sunday morning. A law of inverse proportionality seems about right

Great event Bob! Thanks for all the hard work from those concerned. The shrimp-wash was very efficient, I thought. Pity about the last race but that's how it goes, I guess. Had a good time, anyway

In answer to Mark, I don't know if there was any 'official' photography, but the safety guys had my camera on the water on Sat. (pics for the mag.) and I will be sending a few to Martin and Bob for website and Y&Y respectively shortly. I will endeavour to ensure you are featured, Mark, seeing as how you sailed your socks off to a superb second place.

Thanks to all at Grafham for the End of Series TT. Especially for maintaining the overnight temperature significantly higher than the forecast ground frost.....

Plea to George Love - please don't make available any photos (if any) of my poor attempt at a cartwheel during the 3rd race on Saturday, it turned into a run-of-the-mill slow motion capsize. Given that I've not capsized for years, I was obviously trying just that much harder....or was it really that gusty?

That must have been the one gust of 25 kts that didn't last very long (or was that when I nearly capsized a few minutes earlier?) Your capsize may have been slow, George, once you were caught around the mast but the initial flip forward was pretty cool! (I enjoyed it anyway)
