Congratulations to Paul Wilko - Draycotes IT specialist for the excellent photo's posted on "Flicker " - great pic's
I have searched through the pic's and spotted a couple of Carsington boys - mostly behind a Draycote boat I hasten to add !
Well done to Robert for another excellent "sport" performance but there was somebody missing , where was the Editor
Blown off course perhaps or was he a little windy about defending the 3-0 winning margin to Draycote in the Draycote Vs Carsington challenge
I hope the Editor is well and we see him breezing into action at Queen Mary's

Does anybody have a caption to accompany the picture of the viking
How about ;
"Whats this - water under my hulls rather than inside them ? "

Could someone explain the scoring to me.

Stuart Snell and Mark Aldridge both had three points from two races, yet Stuart won the meeting ahead of Mark. Why was this? Similarly, Graham Collett and Erling tied on 13 points, but Graham was placed above Erling. Another pairing was Ed Dalton and Jon Finch, both on 16 points.

Ties are usually broken for the Winter TT events by adding the finishing times for both races and then awarding based on lowest combined time.

I'm only presuming this method was used here as it was at Stewpot in November.

The class association guidlines state that 'Ties are to be decided by the lowest sum of the competitors corrected times'

Thanks to everyone at Draycote for a most enjoyable event and congratulations to Stuart.

I was particularly impressed with the race management and the quick turnaround - much appreciated.

Nice friendly club and the bacon 'n egg bap was fab'.

Look forward to seeing you all at Queen Mary.

Looks like an excellent event. Things worthy of note from a distance include:
- 7 boats from the home club - 2 in the top 5
- 4 boats from Stewartby
- 4 from Shanklin
- several new faces
- good to see the Grafham guys doing well

I bet the Queen Mary Guys were pleased to get away on Bloody Mary day.

Yes Bob, you're right, I was asked to help out at Queen Mary's Bloody Mary (their major winter event) but obviously I had a duty to sail at Draycote...
You could say George, Stewart and me helped out by making a bit of space for the 302 entries that turned up!
Goodness knows how they all fitted in.

QM is on the 18th February, I'll post a bit more information nearer the date, but hope everyone can come along for a good sail.
I hope we can maintain the high level of entries and the good races that we've had this year.
PS. After travelling to Carsington and Draycote, where I've never seen water levels so low, pleased to report that we're OK at QM.

OH NO! There's still a whole month to wait
Thankfully the QM locals don't drink as much water as those around Carsington and Draycote, so there won't be as far to walk to the shore and back.

Your notion that there's plenty of sailing water in the QMM Reservoir is down to the locals drinking less water is not quite right.

What is right is that the southern engineers realised that if they surrounded the water by c40 degree slopes, a drop in water level of a few metres would result in only a little more than that distance being lost around the edges - an insignifcant reduction in the 700 acres of sailing area ....

And what is also right is that QMSC has long ropes on the winches, so that any extra "walking" distance in descent and ascent is not a problem either ....

But let's hope the water level is less down than I am as a result of having gone to Draycote on Bloody Mary day - no boat to sail until Steve repairs it, hopefully in time for him to deliver it on Feb 18th ......
