New Chat Pages

Welcome to the new Sprint 15 Chat pages.

I'm moving all the old messages across to this new forum software in an attempt to cut down on all the spam attacks that we were getting.

You'll need to register before you can post a message; at present you don't need to be a member of the Sprint 15 Association to join.

It might take a few days to get the new chat pages fully integrated into the website, so please bear with us if there are any teething difficulties :)

I've not created user accounts for all the old messages - that would have taken far too long, so I have imported them all as "Archive" user, and automatically added the original posters name to both the title and in the message - so it should be nice and clear who posted what.

You should find the new search engine is better than the old one, and I'll be turning on more features as things settle down.

And of course, email me if you have any problems registering or posting messages - lets see how long it takes Bob to break it

Thanks,

Jonathan

Just had to reload the old messages, as I realised the order that they were sorted in wasn't correct.

You should be able to reply to old topics and see them float up to the top now...

Jonathan,

 Looks good, and no problem to "chat" after registering and logging on.

If it keeps the Spammers out, great!

We're really lucky to have you as Webmaster

It's such a shame that the spammers waste so much of your valuable time.

Personally I find navigating around this type of chat page slightly more time consuming than the previous version. I could keep an eye on all the recent threads fairly easily & jump straight to the interesting bits.

I expect I'll get used to this format, but I thought your previous version was much more user friendly, simple & clear to use.

All spammers should be shot!

Yes- it is not so easy to view what is on the chat page or what has been added but I guess that is the price we must pay to defeat the spammers. We stuck out on the old style (free for all) format for much longer than any other sites I know/use.
Jonathan - is there any chance of a button to return to view the full index? Perhaps I'm being thick but I only seem to be able to do this by using the "back" feature on Internet explorer.
Cheers
Bob
PS I has all been very quite on the web site since I have been away. I've had no abuse from Erling, Golden "Arfur" Goldstone does not seem to have cracked the code yet and even 'Ow Much? (Ray Gall) has been very quiet. By the way I reckon that this grahic  is an imitation of Erling on the water.

Bob,

Yes, there's a couple of places you can click to return to the main index:

At the top here (and similar link at the bottom):

and at the bottom here:

Charles,

When you next visit the chat pages, all the threads that have new messages in since the last time you visited will have a coloured icon next to them.

Hope that helps,

Jonathan

also goto the bottom of the board index and subscribe to the forum this will notify you of updates as well via email to your account so I think in reality the RSS feed is probably the better option of the two

Martin

I keep being asked for logon details even though I ticked the "always log me on" box.

Do you know why this might be?

Thanks

Make sure that you accept the cookie from the site.

I myself just use the save password function in the web browser so all I do is type the first letter of the username and select that.
