I'm looking at buying a dart 15 but I've got a problem transporting it. My car cannot take the weight on a roof rack, and road trailers are too expensive and hard to come by second-hand. So I'm looking to hire a car \ van - the local hire company can do me a escort van with roof bars. Now to save a wasted trip, would this van be big enough to take a Dart 15 on the bars, or should I be looking to get something larger? Thanks.

Hi Mark, An Escort van should be OK for car-topping a Dart 15. The car needs to take about 75Kg on the roof rack. Most cars seem to be able to take it. I have seen a Dart 15 on top of a Ford Fiesta and other small cars
Cheers,

PS there is a trailer for sale on our web site for ?100. See the advert for 1912. That would be a cheap option.

Need to be careful of the overhang if you have a one-piece mast though. I can't remember how much is allowed, but there will be quite an overhang on an escort van.

Thanks for the offer Alan - I live in Bournemouth, so you're pretty close. I'm not going to be buying for a few weeks yet, but if I need a trailer when I do buy, I'll get back in touch. Cheers.

(and thanks to all the other replies too!)
