I've no experience of maintenance of glass boats and I've managed to collect a couple of knicks out of the skegs which I'd like to fill and smooth off. Is epoxy resin with fillers(West System 404) all right? I've got lots of this in the shed for regularly repairing my OK's centreboard and rudder. Any suggestions? What's the normal method? Thanks,Alan.

Hi Alan
I have used a Gelcoat and filler repair pack available from Northampton Sailboats ?11.90, containing a small bottle of gelcoat and hardner plus resin thickener and mixing accessories. It comes as white but you can add colour tint if you want. You can make up tiny amounts which is good for small repairs. I seem to bash my skegs every time I go out, has anybody tried making a metal cap to cover this vulnerable area?

Thanks for the pointer,Kevin. My boat is a very light grey so will need a tint. Are these available from the same source?
