As Dart 15s are so hard to get, I have found one with a one piece mast but want to car top. Dare I suggestor ask about the possibility of cutting the mast and inserting a sleeve. Is this possible?

Hi Kevin
This question has been asked before, and answered in message 929 on 30th January by Bob Carter, to the effect that under no circumstances should an 'amateur' contemplate such surgery on a mast. Without wishing to tarnish your own level of competence, it needs to be done professionally if at all, with the appropriate sleeving, and suggest you contact the Laser Centre to see if they can help.
Alternatively, you may choose to short-circuit this, and contact the supplier of the Proctor D15 mast - an agent called Selden, and contact Robert Kenyon to discuss the possibility of a conversion. Tel:01489 484017 or e-mail
rk@seldenmast.co.uk.(See message 960 on 06/02/02)
Finally, another suggestion would be to simply advertise on the Dart15 web-site to do a swap with someone who might want a 1-piece section . This is probably your easiest and cheapest option .

Good reply Paul. Keith, the one piece mast is lighter, makes the boat easier to right from a capsize and is probably a littler faster. Bods like me who have a trailer do not need two piece masts so you are quite likely to be able to negotiate a swap if you advertise it on this web page.

Kevin,
Whereabouts are you based, where is the D15 you've found, and what's its sail number?
I'm just south of Croydon, cat at Staines (with 2 piece mast) and my sail number is 1594.
If we have a fit acceptable to both of us we MAY be able to do a deal.
