Well done Carsington for a fine entry.

However, please could somebody explain what the results show. There are two columns of figures, namely H'cap and fleet. Presumably, the handicap column relates to both formats calculated on handicap. But does "Fleet" actually mean una-rig?

Secondly, taking the Carsington results as an example, I notice Ray Gall has a handicap position, but not Trevor Bulmer-Jones nor Norman Grum. Is this a genuine mistake, or is it the way we do things? I'm perplexed.

Lastly, I notice there is a provision for entering under both formats. Does this mean that someone can furl-up his jib one race, and unfurl it the next?

Andrew.

Hi Andrew
Well spotted. The answers (tonight) are as follows. They may be different when the effect of the red wine has worn off!! See the capitals below.

Presumably, the handicap column relates to both formats calculated on handicap. YES
But does "Fleet" actually mean una-rig? IN THE TOP SECTION IT IS FOR PY 916 - I E UNARIG OR 2-UP WTH THE JIB. IN THE BOTTOM SECTION IT IS FOR SPRINT ( PY882)

Secondly, taking the Carsington results as an example, I notice Ray Gall has a handicap position, but not Trevor Bulmer-Jones nor Norman Grum. Is this a genuine mistake, or is it the way we do things? I'm perplexed. YES IT IS A COCK UP. GENERALLY I TRY AND KEEP THE CHART AS COMPLETE AS I CAN THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. ERRORS LIKE THIS GET CORRECTED WHEN I FILL IN ALL THE COLUMNS AFTER THE SERIES IS FINISHED. THE FACT THAT THEY GOT ENTERED IN ONCE MEANS THAT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN FORGOTTEN.

Lastly, I notice there is a provision for entering under both formats. Does this mean that someone can furl-up his jib one race, and unfurl it the next? NO. BUT COMPETITORS CAN DO 1 REGATTA (EG CARSINGTON) IN SPORT MODE AND ANOTHER (E.G.GRAFHAM) in STANDARD MODE.

THERE ARE DIFFERENT TROPHIES FOR (1)THE TT OVERALL (2) THE PY 916 TT SERIES and (3) THE PY 882 (Sport) TT SERIES. INTERESTINGLY THIS 2005 SERIES IS THE FIRST FOR A FEW YEARS WHERE 2 SPORT FORMAT SAILORS (RAY GALL & TREVOR BULMER-JONES) CAN QUALIFY FOR THE SPORT FORMAT TRAVELLER TROPHY IF THEY SAIL SPORT MODE AT GRAFHAM. THIS WILL MEAN THAT GEORGE STEPHEN WILL HAVE TO RETURN THE TROPHY HE HAS HELD BY DEFAULT FOR A FEW YEARS.
