Despite the light winds and the cool temperature (especially the water!), this was an enjoyable event - my first visit. I'll certainly book this in my diary for 2007 when a date etc is agreed.
My unexpected immersion yesterday has been disastrous - Gordon stuffed me twice today, and I thought I was a better Sport sailor than he is! He was giving a Dart 18 a run for its money!

George, I like your sense of humour. You gave us an anonymous post, but then proceeded to put your name to it!
Is this an oxymoron?

Any you should have seen him sailing. George fell off his boat. Mounted other boats. Did a 360 turn. And we had hardly any wind!!!
BUT He STILL BEAT GORDON GOLDTONE (Arfur).
Cheers
Bob
PS I hear that Darren has bought 1985 and now has the sest boat at Thorpe Bay. Well done to Darren.

Yes, George
It was a pity the the wind did not materialise but Draycote did a good job in trying conditions. Let's hope for more wind on 13 January 2007.
3rd time lucky, maybe?
Regards
Bob
PS for those that did not go we had 20 competitors, 14 travellers and 6 locals (pretty good since Draycote's whole fleet is 7 Sprint 15s) and Steve Sawford turned up with a load of bits and pieces from various boats, assembled a "bitsa" and proceeded to thrash the lot of us. He almost got away with it too!
Watch this web site for a full report soon.

You're absolutely right Bob. Darren came down to TBYC today to tell us the good news. We're thrilled to bits for him.

I thought I was the better swimmer until Saturday, but you proved me wrong at Draycote.
And Andrew, what is an oxymoron? Can you be my 'phone a friend'?

Is Arfur going to be on "Who want's to be a Millionaire" then?
Oxymoron! [Andrew Hannah]

Andrew Hannah replied:
An oxymoron is a curious figure of speech, whereby two contradictory words or phrases are used together. In this case, a signed anonymous post.
There is another example of a more practical kind that I like. It is when you see a soldier in khaki combat fatigues, with a bright yellow day-glow coat on top!
Andrew.

I just forgot to complete the Name box for my message, and instead rejecting it for completion, the website software added "Anonymous".
So I've done it again....

George Stephen replied:
You forgot to mention just how cold it got in the light breezes, which was essentially why I fell off the cat.
But I agree wholeheartedly that our RO did the best for us that any RO could do, especially for the second race - does he have special foresight about wind directions - I thought the 2nd race course turned out to be remarkably true in wind direction on the beat and the run.
