I was having a read of the rules now that they're up on the website, and came across this one:

For sport mode:
A longer tiller extension (up to 8ft, 2.440 metres) may be carried. Telescopic tiller extensions are not allowed.

I was thinking about buying a single telescopic tiller so that I could easily switch between solo and two-up sailing. Wouldn't it make it easier to go out on the wire, (i assume, i still haven't had the chance to sail my 15!)

My tillers have seen better days, the long one especially. Are there any aproved tillers out there and how much am I likely to pay for one?

And one more thing, I don't suppose anyone know's who the owner of the 15 is in Lee-On-the-Solent-Sailing-Club (LOSSC)? I'd quite like to get in touch with them to chat about what it's like to sail from there!

Regards,

Chris.

Hi Chris
Our basic strategy is to keep things cheap and simple. When we approved the longer tiller extension for Sport mode (quite a few years ago)we had the debate about telescopic tiller extensions. They were much more expensive than the simple ones and they are also inclined to break in such a way that they are not repairable - so we opted to stick with the cheap & simple.
