The Sprint 15 National Championships kicks off on Saturday 19 August at Netley Sailing Club. There will be 3 days of racing with 7 races scheduled and the prizegiving is scheduled for Monday 21 August. The pre-entry stands at 51 and the outlook is that the final entry will be in the 60-70 range . Grafham and Shanklin dominate the entries but there are also strong entries from Carsington, Thorpe Bay, Queen Mary, Seasalter, Halifax, Beaver, Filey, Liverpool, etc. The current National Champion is returning from Canada, where he now lives, to defend his title. On the Sunday evening the fleet will be entertained by popular extrovert singer, Jim Etherington, who has a big following in the Swanage and Wareham area.
After 3 days of championship racing 2 days of fun sailing will follow. Day trips (cruising with rescue attendance) are planned to lunch at Stokes Bay and Gurnard are planned. Novices who do not want to race can come and join in the cruising for a small fee of ?15. There is also a Go-Kart knock out competition planned at the Eastleigh Go-Kart Track and this has become a firm favorite with the fleet.
