This year, the Southern Teach-in is being held at Thorpe Bay YC, Southend-on-sea, Essex. It will be different from previous teach-ins insofar that it is being held on just one day (saturday) instead of the usual two. However, entries are welcome to join the resident fleet of Sprints for the sunday race, if they wish.

This is the plan:

1000 Arrive at club and rig boats.
1100 Boats rigged with sails up, awaiting inspection of Nick Dewhirst!
1200 ish Lunch.
1300 Capsize drill, including onshore demonstration.
1430 Go onto water for series of one-lap races.
1700 Come off water, shower etc.
1830 Supper at club.
1945 Onshore session including the basic rules.
2100 Close with beer!

TBYC is also holding the first OM of the summer TT series. This will be on 28/29 April. I will post a separate thread regarding this.

However, the important note for the teach-in entrants, is that you are welcome to leave your boats at the club. Indeed, we want you to remain.

Also, please note that you must NOT park your car in the green field Council car park beside the boat park, unless you have a TBYC car sticker. These will be issued when you enter. We expect the entry fee to be £10 and the evening meal at about £15.

I will be happy to answer any queries you may have.

The teach-in is for ALL Sprinters, not just those who usually race. Please drop me a line if you think you will be coming.

We all look forward to having you,

Andrew Hannah,
TBYC.

The Southern teach-in at Thorpe Bay was a great success. A full report will appear in the next issue of NewSprint. Thorpe Bay would like to thank the Association for giving us the teach-in this year.

I would like to thank all those who made the day a success. Most notably Nick Dewhirst, and all the other helpers at Thorpe Bay YC. These included Chris Maloney, Duncan Ford, Pete Sherwin and Toby Speller.

Andrew,
TBYC.
