Hey up all,
Seasalter are going in force to Thorpe Bay!
Hopefully 3 boats (Kevin Dutch, Martin Searle and myself) will be on the water on the other side of the estuary.
Anyone else making the trip?
Cheers, Ben

That's great news Ben. It's just what we want to hear. Very soon now, I'll be making a detailed posting of the Thorpe Bay TT.

It may interest you to know the TBYC fleet will be descending upon Seasalter en-masse, when it comes to your TT in july. Indeed, I am in the process of writing a song about our proposed visit!

If you want to hear the world premier of this song, you will need to come to Thorpe Bay. It might be the only time you will ever hear it.

Our plans for the OM are at an advanced stage, and we are all looking forward to a super event.

Andrew Hannah,
TBYC.

Huzzah, Andrew, the song sounds like good fun. Indeed maybe something to record and put on Youtube. :D
Counting down the days now and preparing myself. Is the TT just for normal 15s or can you go into sport mode?I suspect I won't but I know that Kevin and Martin might be keen to, not that they need to.
Cheers, Ben

The race officer is aware that time recordings are necessary to cope with both modes. So no problem if you wish to trapeze.

For club racing, Thorpe Bay boats have a gentlemen's agreement to race una-rig, as it gives us a feel for one-design racing. Also, newcomers are less inclined to be overawed if they sail with single sail. It works well with us.

Just to say that I won't be able to make it due to various things so it'll just be you and Kevin.

Oh - that is a shame. Never mind - I hear that some Northerners have got visas to come South!
Cheers
Bob
PS Let's hope that they don't bring their pet ferrets

The weather forecast for Sunny Sarfend is looking good! Wind NE 13MPH, bright sunshine, with temperatures of 71F.

For those who wish to arrive on friday, the nearest food/pub is The Shorehouse, which is about 500 yards east of TBYC, along the seafront. It's reasonably priced.

The club will be open for breakfast at 8am on both saturday and sunday.

The time of the club dinner on saturday, will be advised at registration. But it is likely to be fairly early, ie 6.30pm.

Hi All,

The Sprint 15 TT at Thorpe Bay was overshadowed with the news that Bob Carter, our events secretary, had been rushed into hospital on thursday. The general mood of the weekend was one of melancholy, and it is perfectly understandable that Team Grafham decided to stay at home. I am sure I speak for all of us in wishing Bob a satisfactory outcome.

There were 26 entries including 14 from the home club and 6 from nearby Marconi SC. All the entries were una-rig on PY 916. For the record, the final results were as follows:

POS S/N HELM CLUB
1 1938 Kevin Dutch Seasalter SC
2 1237 Charles Watson Halifax SC
3 1115 Peter Tovey Marconi SC
4 1643 Howard Hawkes Thorpe Bay YC
5 1983 Peter Richardson MSC
6 1133 John Long TBYC
7 1812 James Tovey MSC
8 2004 Gordon Goldstone Queen Mary SC
9 1973 Duncan Ford TBYC
10 1981 Martyn Ellis TBYC
11 1585 Chris Maloney TBYC
12 1148 Kyle Stoneham TBYC
13 1642 Gerald Sverdloff TBYC
14 1520 Andrew Hannah TBYC
15 1962 Keith Bartlett Angmering SC
16 1343 Steven Tunnacliff HSC
17 1397 Les Hurrell-Smith MSC
18 1985 Darren Kiggins TBYC
19 1033 Nick Miller MSC
20 1932 Chris Jesse Lee-on-Solent YC
21 1954 Rob Denman TBYC
22 1740 Ian Cosgrove TBYC
23 127 Elliott Fougman TBYC
24 1231 Gary Sverdloff TBYC
25 1759 Fenella Miller MSC
26 1333 Theresa Ryall TBYC.

The winner of the Pro-Am race was Nick Miller (Marconi SC).

Perhaps I could ask someone to post these results on the Events page and the Series results page.

There are photos on the TBYC website, which can be accessed through the association Clubs Link. I have sent a PM to Martin Searle to see if the photos can be transferred to the association.

Andrew Hannah,
TBYC.

Andrew,

I too wish Bob a speedy recovery and my thoughts go to his family.

I'll post the results as soon as possible little busy at work. If someone would like to write a report I can see what to do about getting it put up onto the Yachts and Yachting website in Bob's abscence and their magazine in addition to ours.

Andrew,

Obviously Kevin let us know his news on Sunday night. From his account it was a great event, fun seas and winds (we capsized our 18 on Saturday when the mainsheet got stuck in a gust!).

Well done to you and all your helpers.

Let me know further re Bob if you hear before I do.

Regards

Steve

Well Done Kevin!

At the TBYC TT, we overlooked the draw for the catpart/windsport vouchers. I apologise for this. We subsequently held the draw over the Karl Marx bank holiday weekend. The winners were:

1st prize Chris Jesse (Lee-on-Solent YC)

2nd prize Peter Tovey (Marconi SC)

3rd prize Les Hurrell-Smith (Marconi SC).

I fear the entry forms have been destroyed. So if anybody knows the postal address of the above three, I will gladly send the vouchers.

Andrew Hannah,
TBYC.

Hi Andrew,

Yay, you mean I have actually won something?! That's a first for me :D

Regards,
Chris J

p.s. just to be really picky, but I can't afford to be a member of a yacht club! my club is called "Lee-on-the-Solent Sailing Club" 8)

I am pleased to advise that vouchers have now been posted to the three winners of the Windsport/Catparts draw.

This includes the Gold voucher, which was sent to Chris Jesse of the Royal Lee-on-Solent SC.

Andrew,
