Seasalter - Urgent Road news

I have just noticed from the BBC Kent website that this weekend is the Kent County Show at the Detling Show Ground.

This means that the A249 between the M2 and the M20 will be a nightmare with lane closures and queues.

If you are coming from the south or west ( the M25 southern side anticlockwise to junction 4 or 5):

From Hastings/Eastbourne/Newhaven etc go to Ashford and find the A251 to Faversham and just before Faversham turn onto the coastbound M2 at junction 6.

From M25 southside / M26 - follow the M26 onto the M20 and then take the Chatham exit from the M20 - this means getting into the left hand lane as you pass Junction 5 exit slip and onto the 2 lane M20 - not the 3 lane M20 (the road is segregated from junction 5). Exit at junction 6 and go up the hill towards Chatham and Rochester (A229 northbound) then get onto the M2 coastbound (Dover) at Junction 3 at the top of the hill - watch the signs as the roads have changed.

The best way for everyone from the M25 though is go go to M25 Junction 2
and take the A2 to Dover - which becomes the M2 at Strood.

Remember to saty in the right hand lane at the end of the M2 and follow it onto the A299 - take next exit from A299 after a layby (with very short slip) and then after 100 metres turn right at the crossroads - that leads in 4 miles to the club with one railway bridge on a bend in the village of Graveney.

Take care
