Dart 15 Wanted

Post by mouatt »

I have just joined the Grafham Water Sailing Club and I am looking to buy my first Dart 15.
If you have one for sale ( preferably in club or near club) or you have one that you do not use much and want to sell a half share please contact me.
My budget is £1500-2000 (top whack!).

I have a member looking to buy a used Sprint. He has a Dart 18 to sell.

Where is the best place to adverise a Dart 18? The bid prices on e-bay don't look very much.

Hi Andrew,

The UKIDA are the Dart 18 Association on www.dart18.com

There are normally 10-15 boats of various ages on the site and ads are free for UKIDA members but £15 for non-members I think.

Operates rather like this site with a price guide and a buyers guide to what to look for.

This might be a silly question, but have you looked at the buy & sell page on this site? There are a few in your price range & 1 at Grafham for £2200 - worth considering as it's waiting for you to test sail it.

eBay has them on occasionally & one or 2 other dinghy / cat sites, try Googling.

This string seems to be a very old one Andrew has started again, if you look at the date and in the boats for sale mouatt seems to be selling a Sprint now :?:

Yes quite right. John bought a boat in August last year and now seems to be selling it.
I am trying to find out why. Hopefully it is nothing we have done - or not done.

I never know whether to start a new thread, or to drag an older one into use.

At the moment, I have three people considering a purchase, and I think we will see some activity once the weather warms up.

Keep up the good work Andrew. At this rate you will be the biggest fleet in the Country. I think that the Grafham fleet is 41 at present, so that is your target.

Cheers

Bob

PS Carsington seem to be doing very well also. I think the dynamic duo of Ray Gall & George Love might have something to do with it.

Thanks for the kind words, Bob.

Last friday, Roger Pimm bought 1631 from Bob Scott. Roger's other boat is an H5.9. He is committed to cats and will be a great asset to us.

Hi Andrew, Good to hear Roger’s in a 15, Richard Whitelock & I sat with him, his wife & son Chris at the Thorpe Bay Nationals dinner. As I remember Roger gave a good account of himself on the water, steadily improving as the week went on, no mean feat when you consider he was using a sail that looked as if it was past its sell by date.
I don’t quite remember how much beer was downed that evening, but it seems a wee bit odd that Roger’s bought himself a Sprint 15 & Rich & I ended up buying a Hurricane !!!!

Ha Ha, Frank! I think committed cat sailors never really leave a class. If they move into another cat class, they regret leaving the one behind. This explains why many cat sailors will have a second boat. In your case a Hurricane.

Could you really part with your Sprint? The friends you've made over the years, will be with you forever.
