Carnac 2012

Post by Simon Giles »

Why not consider going to Carnac next year 27th-30th April?

I'm working on mustering a small fleet from Shanklin. Would be good if we could get enough boats to give the class a good showing.

Post below if you think you might be interested. 8)

Robert I thought your name would be the first, as a couple of years age you wanted to organize it?

Family circumstances mean I'm unlikely to do Carnac in 2012, but it is something I would like to do in future.

I hope there are enough takers to get a small fleet of 15s entered next year, and I'd be really interested to hear about their experiences when they get back.

Anyone who wants to do Carnac and the Seasalter TT is welcome to leave their boat at SSC after the TT and Joan or I can meet up with you at the club to collect boats as we are only 5 miles away and sort of retired. Alternatively we could accommodate boats at our house (a mile from the A2/M2 junction at Brenley Corner) as we have plenty of room.

For those with more time on their hands we could probably arrange for camping at SSC during the week as well if desired.

We are quite flexible so if you get a group together get in touch.

I would like to go to Carnac but as I said to Robert it is too close to the Seasalter event.

As for the venue, its a great place, excellent club, good sandy beaches, and plenty of local camping, ( will be there for the summer hols). If there
was to be a European Championships I would recommend Carnac.

Sprint 15 sailors ref Carnac.
As I said in the Windsport Winter Update end of last year, Windsport is willing to act as cordinator and liase with the yacht club. I suggested sailors register their interest @ windsport and we would go from there.
As yet I have 3 sailors who have contacted myself, Mark, Stewart, Simon. I would suggest 6 x boats would make a good fleet 3 x double stacked trailers but the more the better
We are now moving to a commitment position where sailors have to put their money down. I would suggest that by the end of the dinghy show those that have decioded yes will of indicated they are committed by emailing myself direct. I will then cordinate with everyone , based on the committed numbers afer which everyone makes a formal entry.
Just a reminder:-

Sprint15 European event 2012 : France Carnac Eurocat
Ok it has been talked about before and may be 2012 could be the year? Success of the Sprint15 class is about the sailors and the boat so why not use that strength to hold one Sprint 15 international event a year outside of the UK. Carnac Eurocat is the first obvious choice, the event is established, the location is great for all the family, there is a range of accommodation, overnight ferries run from all UK ports and the time April/May is perfect. Going on your own is not as much fun as with a group so if you are up for it Windsport will do the coordination with the club and other Sprint sailors, all you have to do is register your interest before December 1st 2012.
Eurocat dates are 27-30th April. Visit Yacht Club de Carnac http://www.yccarnac.com/

I will be at the dinghy show but we can get this well on they way before that, just email myself with your commitment.
PS:- If someone else is prepared to take on the class coordination role bit and encourage others that is fine with myself, I will liase with the Carnac Yacht Club.
