Help with Legal Disclaimer

Hi folks, this subject is slightly wide of normal sprint 15 threads I’m afraid. Just a bit of background info first :-

The local Lyons group has commissioned a Challenger disability Trimaran for the benefit of a young lad who suffered a major stroke. The craft has been delivered into the care of Shanklin Sailing Club and is also to be available to other disabled people.

SSC has not the facilities etc to join the sailability scheme, we will not be teaching people to sail the trimaran, on the other hand we do want disabled people, who can sail, to be able to use it.

I, as a disabled person now, am trying to organize the practical side of things, particularly the suitable wording of a disclaimer to be signed by the user to protect the club from liability, and here I finally ask for help from any club or person with the wording of such a form and any other suggestions regarding the use of such a craft. We will probably insist the Challenger is only used when the club has a safety boat on the water.

Thank you for your help, my email address is g.howlett33@virgin.net

Hi Geoff,
I would have thought that perhaps the RYA and their sailability dept. could provide some good advice on this.
We have a number of different disabled boats at Carsington which is also a 'Sailability' Club. If it's of interest, I could put you in touch with the club personnel who deal with such issues who may be able to help/advise.
Cheers

Hi Geoff
I would have thought our insurance man, David Lloyd, would be worth a try.
His contact details are on the supplier page of this website.
Cheers
Bob
