Now the work starts. We would like to have the ramp complete by the beginning of next season (late March) and the award is based on completion by the end of 2013.
We do have a lot to sort out. Canterbury City Council have agreed to give us a lease for the land that the ramp is on now and the extension. Their Engineering Manager has been very helpful with telling us what materials he will accept. Once we have a final design we have to go through planning and that also involves the Environment Agency (sea wall and land drainage), Natural England (the area is Protected and a SSSI) and the Marine Maritime Organisation (necessary permissions to work on foreshore). All have been very helpful in putting our proposal together but now we have to do the formal bits.
Updates to progress will be on the SSC website as Martin linked.
Any other club interested in applying for Inspired Facilities funding need to get onto it as soon as possible the third of four rounds of applications is now underway - I believe 23 other sailing clubs obtained funding in round 2 with us.
