Hi,

On behalf of the visitors I'd like to thank the members of the Yaverland SBC (and the contribution from local rival club Shanklin) for making us all so welcome and for looking after us so well, ashore and on the water. The carvery dinner (outside caterers brought in specially) was great!

At least one visitor said "What a great place for the Standard Nationals!" What more can you say!! Alas it isn't possible for Erling/Stuart Pierce to sweet talk the Ferry people into even a limited number of free (or concessionary rate) tickets during the holiday season, so it would add at least £100 (and possibly lots more) to the overall cost. So numbers going would be likely to suffer, and so it won't happen..... but all of us who benefited from the free Sport Nationals ferry tickets are really grateful!!

Thanks again to all involved in organising a great Sport Nationals, despite the fickle winds for most races (which were every bit an RO's nightmare!).

PS My personal thanks to Mary Wood for giving me a print of one of the photos of me (No 156) during the windiest race. Few of us have such "personal" photos of us sailing. The detail is amazing, it's really fantastic, and a gift I'll cherish long after I have to stop sailing.

Well done Keith.

See I took the photos again. No wonder I sailed so badly.

Liam tells me that it was Mary Howie-Wood who took the pictures. Well done Mary - hopefully you will get the credit in the Y&Y magazine (if not on the web site)

Cheers
Bob
PS Now Liam is clean out of excuses for his poor performance
PPS It can't be the boat - Thomas Sandals has been second in the standard Nationals twice in 1957
