Go Karting at the Nationals

Erling has asked me to organise the Go-Kart Grand Prix on the first day of the Fun events - Wednesday 28 August.
It looks like (as usual) we have some good interest in the advanced entries for the Nationals and enough to justify running the event. In fact we have a very strong Group including many of the past hot shots who have already signed up. Can George Love repeat his triumph of 2009? Not if Ray Gall, Jacob Aldridge, Mark Aldridge, Matt Smith, or Steve Petts get their way? I never cease to be amazed by the petrol heads we have in our fleet.
I am just sounding out the track what time we can book and I'll get back to you with more details in a few days. Meanwhile just to wet your appetite here is the link to the report on one of our previous Go- Karting events:
http://www.sprint15.com/events/EMS/event.php?id=9
So think about staying on another day and taking part

PS Where is Kevin Dutch? I cannot believe he will not be there trying to regain both his crowns (sailing & go-karting)
PPS What happened to the Shanklin Tractor driver who drove his go-kart round the track the wrong way after a quick spin?

PS I think Jacob Aldridge is the reigning champion from 2 years ago as we did not have a Go-Kart event last year.

Yes, Bob - Jacob did take my crown two year's ago at Pwllheli
BUT - I'll be back at my favourite track this year (where I was last victorious) to reclaim it. Team orders will apply
Hoping it's chucking it down on the day.

Look we have dusted off the report for the last Go Kart Grand Prix we ran in 2011 in which Jacob Aldridge won in fine style.

I can't remember who looked the most gutted. George Love who had just lost his crown
or Mark Aldridge who was thrashed by his son
.
I'm just posting these to remind those that have not yet entered the Go Kart event that it is not too late.
Anyone interested in having a go can post me or put a post on this chat page and I'll add you to the list.
More details we be added as I know them.

PS Where is Tina this year? Your Team needs you.............

I'll put more details on in a few days time.
Regards
Bob
PS You need to be at the track by 1000hrs to get kitted, etc.

Hi Ray,
Good show - that's what we want - more punters. I wonder why that well known garage owner from Queen Mary has never taken part? You would think it would be right down his street
Cheers
Bob
PS I'm pleased that you are back on line

Hi Andrew ,
The go-karting can be done by any members of the family who can drive the karts. Let Erling know their names etc

Hi Andrew,
Yes in general the more the merrier. In the past we have had whole families take part. The youths of Shanklin were particularly good. This year the Go-Kart track require Grand Prix event competitors to be 16 or more (but not for non Grand Prix carting). It is down to you to declare their age.
Reqards

Hey Gordon
Bob has a good point, Where is Queen Mary petrol heads?
Why don't you show us your prowess on four wheels.....you won't have to fix the Kart when you have broken it

Hi Guys,
Erling tells me we have 22 punters signed up for the Go-Karts which is great.
The maximum the track can accommodate is 25 so there are just 3 places left so if you want to take part please contact myself or Erling quickly.
The full cost of the event is £40 per driver. So I will have to collect this (or £30 for those who have already paid £10 deposit) at Pentewan before the event.
Looks like it is going to be a good one
Cheers
Bob

This is where the Go-Kart Grand Prix will take place.
You need to be there by 10am on Wednesday 28 August so you can kit up and to start racing at 10.30am
http://www.kartworldcornwall.co.uk/location.html
Each rider will get a 5 lap practice session.
There will then be 3 x 10 lap heats for each rider.
An 8 lap final will then take place for the 6 fastest drivers from the heats.
Looking good
Bob
PS Sadly the prices on this website are wrong.

Well done to Matt Smith for winning the Go-Kart event narrowly from Mark Bunyan and Adrian Whaley.
24 punters took part and it was cut and thrust throughout.
Dirty driver of the day was Annabel (Tom Gall's girlfriend) who collected 8 penalty points with her stock car style of driving.
A full report will be published in due course
