Newsprint Autumn 2013

It's been all gas and gaiters in the "Newsprint" post room tonight as the boys and girls turn the place in to a hive of activity despatching the latest edition of your favourite magazine :D
(It's been an awesome sight as I witnessed from my comfy chair in a quiet corner of the office whilst nursing a glass of the finest malt  )
With a following wind it will be in the hands of the postie tomorrow, so you should get yours by weekend. If it doesn't arrive this could be because:
1. The postie threw it in a hedge-bottom (unlikely) :?
2. You've moved and haven't told us (possible) :(
3. You've not upgraded your subs to the current rate of £20 by Standing Order (very possible)
4. We've made a mistake and missed you off the distribution list inadvertently (slightly possible)
The members' database has been undergoing a major rebuild over the last year to take account of the now well-publicised increase in subs. Both your Membership Secretary and Treasurer have been working hard to check who's paid what, who's up to date and who's not. As subs. come in all through the year in dribs and drabs, you may imagine this is something of an ongoing and weighty task. But as of now we think it's correct. Notably, there are quite a few names which I personally recognise as active sailors who appear to have only paid the previous sub. of £10 and, therefore, fall into category 3. above. This may be because the database is not fully up to date awaiting bank statements - but this can be checked as necessary.
So if you don't receive a magazine in the next few days and you believe you should have, please email a message to: membership@sprint15.com with a copy to me at: newsletter@sprint15.com and we will do our best to sort the matter with you very quickly.
In the meantime, to those who do receive a copy, I hope you enjoy the read. A big thanks to all the contributors for this edition - great job folks and please send more stuff for the next edition.
I'm off for another wee dram
Cheers

Arrived. Very many thanks for putting it all together. I hope people are aware of how much time and effort goes into creating such a magazine.

I am sure for many of you the highlight of the journal will be the picture of me with a chip sticking out of my nose. Well worth the £20.

Great work George and team - arrived with a 'thud' today.

We really appreciate the wonderful and emotional tributes to Nick and share our very own here. We miss you Nick and welcome Gordon as our new Chairman so with such a well penned inaugural 'your chairman writes' I know we have the right man..

But this particular magazine seems so much fuller than any that has ever been before it! Why? ..because for the first time ever there are motorcycles in there too - can there be a better periodical in the world?

I look forward to the classic car articles next..

Roll on Carnac 2014!

I've just noticed a bit of a faux-pas on page 36. Can anyone spot it? First to identify gets, just for fun, a shot of the hard stuff on me when I next see them :P
Any other mistakes you notice, I don't want to know
Classic cars? I await the article with baited breath, Mark - you're just the man for it - next issue in the Spring? I'll even donate you a whole bottle of shower gel for your trouble  Now, there's an offer……...

Hi George,

Slap-bang in the middle of back page 36 it states "Four one-day events with three to count (or 2/3 or 2/2)."

The table above clearly shows 5 events....

It just had to be a Queen Mary sailor to spot it....

Ok, George - the wee drams are on me. Well spotted. I added the Datchet event just before I went to print and forgot to change the number of events

It just goes to show you that the offer of a wee dram made George pay attention

You're just being downright cheeky now, Mark  - next thing you'll be wanting gravy with it!! Have you started writing yet or was it the wine talking?
