I don't like to brag but...

We had 22 Sprint 15s out racing today.
We had one of them delivered from the north side of the Island at 8.45 and we put it straight on the beach and put the mast up for a 10am kick off.
Boat number 39 turns up on Wednesday.
Meanwhile Erling has formulated a cunning plan to get the boats stacked up.
The monohull owners are all very nervous.

Brag away - I'm just insanely jealous. And you are doing a great job for Sprint 15s.

That's fabulous and just goes to show the absolutely incalculable value of sailors at the front investing time and energy in developing 'newbies' and others less advanced.
This is the key to maintaining our position as the number one Cat class.
Bravo Erling and Liam!

It occurs to me that with such club racing turnouts, Shanklin could run an open meeting. I'd come.

Building a class from scratch isn't easy. But there are some things you can do to start the ball rolling. If possible, get yourself onto your club sailing committee. This will ensure the Sprint voice is heard. What then?
Volunteer to take charge of your club notice board. This presents a golden opportunity to promote the Sprints. Freshen it up by removing unwanted material and replace it with a picture of yourself (and contact details) and some pictures of Sprints in action. Photocopy the "for sale" page from the association website and stick it on the board. Make sure Sprint posters are at eye level.
Write something for your club magazine. In particular, offer to take members for a trial sail. And then pop the question.
Volunteer to manage the boat park. This is the holy grail because applications for a space will invariably have to be referred to you. If an applicant is undecided which class to buy, make sure Sprints are on the short list.

Yes,
Andrew, you and Erling are the most adept at growing the Sprint 15 Class at their clubs. We need a few other who are skilled in the art. Fancy taking on a few apprentices?
Cheers
Bob

Erling has done it through kindness and gentle, quiet encouragement.

It was only a few years ago Ervin and I looked at each other and said 28 boats that is fantastic. Then we went up to 30. Now no one knows where their boat is. Mine is in a corner where it can't get out, as I can't sail for a while. Ervin's has had more parking spaces in the last few months than you can count. As has Liam's. My big fat friend Ervin as you have heard is working on a method of stacking Sprint 15's, a lot of welding needed, but watch this small Shanklin Sailing Club Boat Park space.
Well done Ervin and Liam
