Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has experience with Trident Drysuits. I like that they are manufactured in the UK and the front style zip making it easier to get on alone.

What is their performance and longevity like?

I have had zero longevity with minimal use from Trident. More than 1 in the bin unfortunately
It is all down to the material and maybe that has changed. We also have Sophia's Crewsaver going in the bin as well (probably 50hrs of use) but my Magic Marine is going strong after 4 or 5 years of serious neglect (have had to change the feet). It's a lottery but Trident - call them and ask for a 2 year guarantee against delamination...

It looks like their current models date back to 2014. Did your models pre-date that by any chance?

So looking for brands that are going to last.

Starting to get more urgent as the weather changes (we are still using very cheap shorty wetsuits and adding more extras but so far weather has been exceptional).

I have a Typhoon Max B dry suit. It was at the upper end of the price range but has lasted well and I sail right through the winter so it gets plenty of use. My other half has one too and we are are both really pleased with them.

In fairness to Trident, I've had one for three years and all servicing / repairs have been at no charge.

Thanks Jenny, I'm intrigued by the "fabric" socks on a few of their models. What are these compared to the more common latex socks? I assume they are still waterproof

Jane isn't keen on a cross chest zip and likes the idea of the Gul U zip for easy of entry and comfort.

I was impressed by their information about care, repairs etc. On the other hand if they delaminate then not much is possible in the way of repairs

I find the fabric socks better, I always found the latex ones would stick when you try and put boots on whereas these don't. I have never had a problem with the cross chest zip but that will come down to personal preference.
