Thorpe Bay Nationals 22nd-24th July
Posted: Wed Jun 21, 2017 8:08 pm
As everybody should be putting their entries in very soon so as not to miss out on the excellent discount, only a couple of days left, I thought I would just take the opportunity to remind people of what they will be getting:
o Excellent sailing on the North Shore of the Thames Estuary.
o Results onshore as soon as you get in to change (well we have managed it for several events now).
o Its easy to get to us all main roads (more details to follows).
o Our Club members are getting ready to help you all out.
o Large Changing Rooms.
o We hope to have our successful manned boat cleaning points to ease your like and get you to the bar quicker.
o We have a sandy beach, although we usually manhandle our boats on it and although I pull my own up, 3 people can move a Sprint.
o Parking for boats and vehicles next to our Dinghy Park.
o Excellent affordable catering onsite over the whole weekend for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
o Sundays Dinner which is in the price is planned as 3 courses.
o Evening Entertainment has been arranged for Sunday, although I can't say it will be wild (and it is not Andrew Hannah).
The bar is well stock with Premium Lagers (Estrella), Standard Lagers (Fosters/Kronenbourg), 3 real ales (currently IPA, Woodforde Wherry and Abbots) most beers are around £3. At least 12 Wines of which 6 are served by the glass. In case anybody is interested 4 variations of water, including Tap
o The views from the club are southerly, sunny and good all day. We have had our Balcony with glass paneling so has uninterrupted view of the Estuary and the Sailing Area.
o Brian Phipps will be onsite next to the boat parking with his Trailer of bits and hopefully his list of jobs. Book in your mast ball replacement.
o Bring your bike the morning ride along the Esplanade is a good distance and most of it on a cycle path (the rest is a shared area, don't ask). An excellent warmup for the days event or to blow away the evening cobwebs.
o If your family are coming then let us know (before you come) and we can suggest several places to go and how to get there, the weekend planned for everyone. And if they don't want to stay in Thorpe Bay, you can be on a plane to Barcelona (and many other places) courtesy of Southend Easyjet or into London within an hour.
There is so much more than you may think
Get your entry in now (same message to the Thorpe Bay Sailors). Without you an Nationals wouldn't be a good Nationals
See you Soon.
