Nationals Arrival and pre weekend sailing

Post by dave42w »

Hi,

We are travelling down towards Thorpe Bay today. #2008 on the van roof and caravan behind. Camping at a Camping and Caravan Club 5 caravan site near Rayleigh.

Wondering if it would be possible to bring our Sprint 15 to the Thorpe Bay dinghy park, ideally tomorrow (Tue) and sail from there for the rest of the week. Will the dinghy park and access to the sea be locked or is it likely to be open? Due to the hassle of getting her on/off the van roof and assembled we'd rather not sail somewhere else and then move for the weekend.

Also I'm not quite clear if our (small) caravan is allowed at the camping at the club for the weekend. We can stay at the first site but if allowed it would be nice to be with everyone else.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave, as previously discussed we are happy for you to bring your boat in earlier. Today is better than Monday as you previously mentioned as we are fully open. If you come up to the bar when you arrive I will be there until 15:30 and can brief you where to put it.

Follow the route instructions that are on the club details and come along the seafront to the Dinghy Park entrance once inside the gate turn right to our sailing car parking.

The club is sailing Midweeks at 19:00 both today and tomorrow so you can meet some of the fleet. Tides are either early morning or late afternoon. Available water to sail yesterday was about 16:00.
