Buyers Beware

Post by Bob Carter »

I see that a set of sails on Ebay advertised as "Dart 15" sails are nothing of the sort and cannot be used for any racing (either class or club racing) as they do not have a valid handicap.
I suggest that you give the seller "Futen 100" of Margate a wide berth. He is clearly a cowboy. Please pass this message on...........
Cheers

I contacted the seller and he has put a footnote on the advert to say it will not measure for racing. I suspect that the sails were made to mimick the DX.

Thanks, Bob. Spurious adverts, such as this one, undermine the integrity of our class. Really, the advertiser should remove all reference to ourselves. The sail dimensions should suffice.

Come on you two, loosen up.
Yes, only fair that it should be pointed out that they are not class racing sails but "cowboy" and "spurious adverts" ? Absolutely not.
Someone got themselves a set of interesting sails to play with for just £155 today. That would not even buy an official jib. The same seller (194 & 100% positive feedback, by the way) also sold a reasonable looking 15 for £1020 on ebay today. Less than the hideous cost of a full set of official sails.
