Just come to refit my shiny new hatches from Windsport 4" and 6" and find the holes in the hulls are significantly larger. 115mm and 165mm. It's an out of Africa boat. Anyone else come across their hulls not matching the specified hatch size?

John

Bit more research and they seem to be closest to Barton Marine parts.

Cutout sizes are correct for the boat. Outer size slightly smaller than fitted ones.

Hi Yes, The following is Brian Phipp's comments in the 2006 snagging list.
6” hatch unit This is a different unit from previous boats , they were fitted with Holt Allen covers Not a problem if more cost effective to Collins and as good or better, just need to carry spares. If HA are available may be worth fitting the same as 4” covers for cosmetic reasons Nice Hatch covers – well liked by the sailors. Perhaps you have 4” versions of the same type for the rear to make the boat match? Grant will look into the most economical cost , either both 4 and 6 inch covers HA or SA version but not mixed.
You need to talk to Windsport about the spare parts.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the info. At least I know I'm not going mad  I've already ordered a set of the Barton hatches as they were the first I found that had sizes that matched the holes. Nice thing about standards, there's so many to choose from :D So I'll see how they perform.
Regards,
John
