Does anybody have an old trampoline? [AndrewHannah]

One of our Thorpe Bay members has a well-used Dart 15, which needs a newer trampoline. Unfortunately, the value of his boat does not justify the expense of new tracks and a new trampoline. His existing tramp is practically in threads.

Now for a huge favour. Does anybody have a redundant old-style tramp, and who would be willing to donate it for this excellent cause. I hasten to add that the owner lends his boat to other Thorpe Bay members, has attended Seasalter this year, and attended the Grafham OM last october.

If you are in a position to donate your redundant trampoline in this way, please could you e-mail me. If the donor is going to the Netley championships, I will be there to take delivery to save postage costs. (And buy you a drink!)

The donated tramp doesn't need to be in tip-top condition. As long as it is reasonably serviceable, that would be enough.

I hope one of you can help in this way.

Old Trampoline [Martin Searle]

Post by Archive »

Martin Searle replied:

Andrew,

I have an old trampoline to fit the old style tracks.

It is pretty ragged though with some areas being a touch threadbare i.e near the port bow end near the bolt rope. It is probably patch-up-able by a sailmaker, its the original one the boat came with but I did replace it due to its condition, i.e there are probably better ones out there.

Its just taking space in my storage facility (ie my cupboard under the stairs) so if you'd like I can bring it down to Netley and you can see what you think. Completely free since its surplus to my requirements.

A market for old tramps? [Charles]

Post by Archive »

Charles replied:

Is there an untapped market for old style tramps?

Mine is going where Martin says his is old tramp is going(front port) & as others have said I'd rather stay with what I've got than go to the expense of a new tramp & tracks.

If anyone has else has a second hand tramp why not put it up on the for sale board.

Martin Searle, Gazza Marshall, and Robert England show they have "the milk of human kindness" (Macbeth, act1,scene v) by offering to donate their old trampolines, without any money changing hands. Thank guys!

Andrew.

Robert England and Martin Searle [AndrewHannah]

AndrewHannah replied:

I would like to thank Robert England and Martin Searle who both, very kindly, donated their old trampolines to help one of our members renovate his old Sprint 15.

If these two tramps are used "consecutively", the boat will have many years of life to come.
