I am lookung to buy a 15 and have seen one for sale. The owner does not know the boats age and there are no identifying sail numbers. Are there identification marks on the hulls that would determine age?

Dart 15 year [Bob]

Hi Rob,
The hulls have serial numbers inside them but there was never a record kept which links these to the sail number. The original owner would have had a certificate (like an old car log book)which stated the sail number & the hull numbers. If it is the one on EBay it is an old Spark made before 1988 (as they stopped making them with blue striped hulls in in 1988). So far as value goes it makes not much difference to the value if it was made in 1978 or 1987 - you should go on the condition of the boat. If you want to race it getting the sail number is a bigger problem. Try asking the vendor to ask the previous owner - I'm pretty sure that this boat was sold on EBay last year as well so the current owner probably has the EMail address of the previous owner.
Best of Luck

Laser will have records of the Dart 15s they sold.
When a hull was written off about 10 years ago, they were able to tell what hull model it was from the Hull number.
