Jib furler

Hi all,
Which company does the best deal on furling equipment for the jib?
I have a hankering to go a bit faster this season, which with my soon to be polished hulls, looks more likely.
Thanks for the tip-off about Oyster Products by the way Steve, they were very helpful, although only Old Tony was there,so we have an hour of faffing trying to get all the stuff.

Hi Ben,

Glad Oyster were useful, at least you found them - it is good stuff.

Because our 15 hulls were very matt I used blue compound on those before the white and it took about 0.4kg for each one. You must wash the boat thoroughly before moving onto the white compound and then again afterwards. The white can be brushed on a lot thinner and I have just managed to do all three with 1kg - I did the 18 yesterday down at the club and only used the white and it came up a treat.

Nice row of shiny boats at the back of the field now!

Do not do the decks as the compound will get into the stipling and would be very difficult to remove. I did ours upside down against a wall (old blanket in between) as that stops the boat moving and giving uneven polisher pressure- it allows you to put a reasonable pressure on the polisher.

Pay particular attention in getting any remaining compound out of the beam end sockets and along the edge of the deck or you will end up with it rubbing the anodising off the beam end and the colour off your cover.

Ready to go for Saturday now, Joan has just put all the battens in the sails.

I only have the white compound as that is what Tony recommended. I have however got 2 kg of it though so there should be enough of it to do my hulls, Vals Byte, Billy's 15, Steve Londons 18...........
Lots to do.
Mine won't be ready for this weekend unfortunately so i'm in the Solo. As soon as we are out of the Sally Forth series though, you had all better watch out.
Are you planning to do the Thorpe Bay TT by the way. I think it's only me and Kevin planning on it at the mo, but i'm sure Martin will have something to say.

Busy little bee aren't you - make sure you do them outside away from boats and cars. We had to rinse off both cars and they were 30 feet away and my drive is now white.

By the way - wear a mask and a hat while you are doing it, the dry compound gets everywhere!

We won't make Thorpe Bay which is a shame - 3rd grand daughter due next week so other duties will prevail.

I'll be out in the Laser for our first series since my Sprint is in bits still! But should be ready by the end of the month.

As for the Thorpe Bay TT: My usual boat transport problems rear their head here (wish I kept my old Citroen ZX with its towbar instead of selling it!). But I'd be up for a trip accross the estuary for the TT, perhaps we can work the logistics out.
