The first TT event of the Sprint 15 summer programme is being held at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club on 28th and 29th April 2007.
Owing to tidal constraints, the open meeting will have an early start. The briefing will be 9.30 am, and the first race is at 10.30 am. For many, this will mean an early start on saturday morning. A more leisurely option would be to bring your boat, and rig the mast some time on the friday before. This is what Thorpe Bay boats do, when it is our turn to visit.
A club car sticker will be issued to all entrants. Please do not park yours cars or campervans in the Council car park until you have obtained your sticker. Otherwise, you could be stung with a fine. This year, we are not charging for stickers.
As usual, Thorpe Bay YC will be generous with the prizes. We also have a sponsor, namely, Bluewater Strategies. This was arranged by Howard Hawkes (1643).
To those who are entering the teach-in on 21st april, you are welcome to leave your boats at the club, for the OM a week later.
We have a small grassed area behind the club for tents. We also have a sail training room, for use with air beds, sleeping bags, etc. But no cooking, please! Breakfast will be served in the club from 8.00 am.
On the saturday evening, there will be a three course dinner, including a vegetarian dish. Price is £15 per head. There will be some free wine on the tables, by courtesy of Bluewater Strategies.
Following the meal, there will be a cabaret act performed by a struggling musician, who also sails a Sprint. But a word of advice: leave your wives and children at home, as the songs are more suited to a smoking room.
We at Thorpe Bay, are putting on a great show. A warm welcome awaits our visitors.
