Baptism of Fire

Post by alex955 »

A huge thanks to Carl at Gurnard and all fellow competitors (?!) at Gurnard for the Sport Nationals.

Having sailed my newly acquired 15 only twice prior to the event, the tides, force 5 and 'heavy chop' on the Saturday, combined of course with the inability to tack and unfurling the jib for the first time, led to a rather eventful day to say the least.

Thanks to all that offerred advice, tips, beer and fruit cake - I shall be back for more!

In the meantime, there's plenty of practice required.......

Alex,

 Glad you enjoyed the Sport Nationals!

I'll see if I can persuade Gordon Goldstone to sail more often at Queen Mary when he gets back from holiday - you should get some helpful tips and advice.

:( I'm still not well enough to sail, can't even drive at the moment! :(

:) But when ("if" is not in my thinking) I can I'll try to provide some advice as well. :)
