Any one from Grafham going to Nationals?

Post by Erling »

Hi Frank
I hope Shanklin is not going to have more boats than Grafham in Wales like two years ago.

Well I must admit that the Shanklin entries (6 so far) are looking very impressive - I reckon that Erling has been exercising his 2x4 (bit of wood) to great effect. It looks like they are out to defend their Go-Kart title too - even Erling has signed up to take part (I'm not surprized the way he drives that BMW with a Sprint 15 on top).

On a general note it is looking quite encouraging after just over a week after the mailshot. So far we have 19 entries, 12 for Fun, 9 for go-karts, 2 youth, 1 lady, 2 two-up, etc. Have a look at the details in the events section. There remains 2 weeks to get your entry in to qualify for the cheap rate. This applies to the whole of Team Grafham!!!!

Well, i am in the middle of replacing the tramp and its tracks, so will be more confident in the boat this year. i will be pleased just to beat Ray again, but will have to get plenty of practice in before then.

Still not anyone from Grafham, is this the reason that it has not been updated?

Never mind the Nationals, I notice Grafham had twice as many @ Seasalter than Shanklin

Now that Grafham have overtaken Shanklin on the National entries front will Erling be found at the sailing club doing a Delia Smith impersonation --------- "Where are you, let's be 'avin you"

Beating Ones entry number in the nats

Post by Martin Searle »

Folks,

All I can say is that my main aim at the nationals is always to try and beat my entry number, since mines at 40 this year this should provide me with a good shot at doing it, failed last year (35 and finished 39 despite not really mixing it during the event).

Just something to do to make it more interesting for those of us not in the top 10.

Erling might have a bit of challenge on his hand to beat his entry number of 1 ;-).

Hi Frank
You can't count George Carter, as I doubt he even still has a British passport not alone still a member of Grafham and George Wood told me he had forgotten where Grafham was. Do you plan to add Steve Sawford to your number or can I add him to Shanklin's.

Hey Erling - there is no skulduggery in team Grafham. George remains part of the team - he has sailed at Grafham several times this year already. He pays his fees and his boat sits next to mine in the dinghy compound (but for the last few weeks it has been at Steve Sawford's to make it go even faster in readiness for the Nationals). Neither did we claim Steve Sawford last year (who pays no Club fees). He hung onto team UKIDA - although I'm not sure he is a UKIDA member. 2/3 of team UKIDA were real Grafham members in any case.
Anyway we live in hope that we will make double figures without any team UKIDA members.
Cheers
Bob
PS. I think your team will have to content themselves with prizes for dancing & go-karts
PPS Any news on the new Team Shanklin shirts?
