Accomodation for nationals

Post by Robin Newbold »

Just wondering, how many people are planning on camping for the nationals? As I noticed there are severe weather warnings on wednesday and B&B's near-by are fully booked, from what i have seen

It reminds me of the old joke about the Irish sea scouts.

The tent sank.

camping

Yep the Seasalter crowd are going to camp, trying for the Old Mill site they don't do bookings however.

I suppose it depends on how 'Severe' the weather is and how sheltered the site is but then forecasts can change just like that.

Tuesday looks like the worst day with forecast heavy rain and winds of up to 30mph.
So all of the fun event goers will be treated to evening entertainment of watching those who arrive then putting their tents up in all that.

Howard Hawkes says he's going to camp, which will be an entertainment in itself!

Tents

Post by George Stephen »

Andrew,

Did you hear the one about the Essex sailor who wanted a big tent for when he went to away events, so he'd have plenty of room?

I heard he bought a 3-man tent, without checking that it might need 3 men to put it up.......

More seriously, my cheapo 3-man tent (I did check first that I would be able to put it up single handed!) isn't likely to cope with Welsh wind-driven rain..... Do I buy a better one? Or do I try last minute for a B&B that might have cancellations due to the disappointing weather?

George,
I would take the tent as a contingency but I bet there will be no problem getting a B&B for a single person if you go inland a bit and drive around looking.
Cheers

A prayer for fair weather. (From the Book of Common Prayer).

"O Lord God, who hast justly humbled us by thy late plague of immoderate rain and waters, and in thy mercy hast relieved and comforted our souls by this seasonal and blessed change of weather........................."

At Thorpe Bay, we had gorgeous weather over the weekend. Let us hope it continues.
