After an excellent event (with 22 entries) at Carsington last weekend, our next open meeting is at Grafham on 20/21 October when it is the last event of our Summer TT series and it is also our Inland Championships. This is an informational posting just to let you know what is going on. We will post the Notice of Race and the entry form on this website in the next few days.
This year it will be by pre-entry to the Club by 14 October and there will be a premium of £5 to enter at the event. The reason for this is to encourage people to enter early as last year the registration caused many hiccups that were not easy to correct quickly - none of these to my knowledge came from our fleet but examples included 3 boats with the same sail number, several sailors not able to remember their sail numbers, and many more. As we are planning a meal in the clubhouse on the Saturday evening which has to be pre-ordered you need to remember to book your meal (and make your selections) when you enter. Only a few extra meals will be able to be bought on the Saturday but don't bank on it.
The racing will be 5 races, 3 planned on Saturday (1, lunch, and then 2) and a further 2 planned on Sunday. Other fleets which are coming to the Cat Open will be planning to do 6 races (3 back to back both Saturday and Sunday).
We have opted for the 5 race strategy so we pack up early on the Sunday and our prizegiving will be earlier than the other fleets. We hope that this is a master stroke. Last year several of the prizegivings were delayed and we were kept hanging about until quite late. It is also consistent with our policy of avoiding doing 3 races back to back as a general rule.
I hope that you agree with the line we are taking.
Watch this space for more info.
Cheers
Bob
