Attaching forestay to furler drum (again)

Post by Jaycb »

If the weather clears up I'm going to get my Dart rigged up on Saturday.
Following on from my previous enquiry about the actual method of attaching the forestay to the furler drum, I'm happy with the use of a dynema strop, and have now seen several 15s, 16s and 18s rigged up identically at Seaford. The problem now is that I'm not sure exactly what the knot that's used is called. Steve did a nice drawing of the setup but I'm not clear on the knot that's used after looping the dynema a few times. I can sort of visualise it but when I tried to find it in my knot book last night I couldn't find anything similar. The Dart manual drawing shows the finished thing but not how to tie it!
Could anyone assist with a name I can look up or a link to a detailed drawing please?

try some half hitches this is all i use thread the string (no technical words from me sorry) round the loops you have done and through the loop you have created this once know is the simplest knot you will ever know! (i use it for everything) im sure the cat sailors at your club or any person at your club will know the half hitch and would be able to help you owt any knot tht keeps tight will do!
1343, thats me, took it to the sea, and came number 3, further up is where i really wanna be!
